Program: Dental Hygienist
School Levels: Grades K-12
Target Population: All Students
The school dental health program, conducted by a dental hygienist, is one of education, prevention, and treatment.
Different grades are provided a variation of services. In selected grade levels, students' teeth are individually screened by the hygienist with the parents being notified if dental work is needed. The majority of grade levels have at least one instructional lesson by individual classroom. The emphasis of these lessons is good hygiene, nutrition and prevention.
Financially needy student are provided limited dental services through local dentists using Red Lion Area and York Foundation funds specifically designated for this purpose. Needy students are identified via screening by the hygienist.
