Dear Parents and Guardians:
The safety and well-being of all of our students, faculty, and staff is of the utmost concern. We have been actively monitoring the rapidly changing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) health issue. As events unfold, we believe the time has come for our District community to make an important decision.
While we do not have any confirmed cases, the Red Lion Area School District will not be in session for students beginning March 16, 2020 through March 27, 2020 so that we can have additional conversations with health professionals. All transportation services for District students will be cancelled during this period. Beginning at 11:59 PM, March 13, 2020, all District buildings will close and all school activities will be cancelled. The District’s tentative plan is to reopen schools and resume activities on Monday, March 30, 2020.
Today, students are being directed to collect all personal items, including sports equipment and educational materials, to take home for the duration of the closure. Educational materials may include Chromebooks, chargers, textbooks, workbooks, novels, folders, notebooks, and any other materials necessary to complete school work. Students and parents/guardians will not be permitted to collect any personal or educational belongings after today. Beginning the week of March 16, 2020, teachers will utilize the Skyward Message Center and District email to communicate with students and families regarding school assignments.
Please continue to monitor the Skyward Message Center and the District website for future communication.
District communication and consultation is ongoing with the following organizations who are experts in emergency preparedness and crisis management:
