What is Title I?
Title I, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) provides financial assistance to states and school districts to meet the needs of educationally at-risk students. Schools are identified as Title I based on their percentage of students eligible for free and reduced-price lunches. Once a school qualifies for Title I based on economic need, support is provided based on academic need, regardless of an individual child's free/reduced lunch status.
The Red Lion Area School District operates a Schoolwide Title I Program in eligible elementary buildings. In a Schoolwide program, Title I resources are used to enhance the overall educational environment, providing supplemental English Language Arts (ELA) instruction and support to any student in grades K through 6 who demonstrates academic need in reading and writing.
All Red Lion Area elementary schools are approved Title I buildings, with the exception of Locust Grove Elementary. For specific questions regarding a building's Title I services, please contact the building principal or reading specialist.
The Red Lion Area School District Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy & School-Home Compacts are updated annually and posted each September on the website of each Title I building. These documents outline how families and schools partner to support student success.
Title I School-Home Compact
The Title I School-Home Compact for each Title I building is found under the "About" section on the building home page. Each compact outlines the ways in which parents, school staff, and students will share in the responsibility of improving student academic achievement, as well as the methods by which the school and parents will build a partnership designed to help children attain Pennsylvania’s high academic standards.
