The Instructional Support Team
The Instructional Support Team includes the parents, classroom teacher, principal, and the instructional support teacher. Other school staff members may also serve on the team, depending on the student’s needs. These could include reading specialist, school guidance counselor, speech therapist, and/or nurse.
Initial IST Meeting
At the Initial Instructional Support Team Meeting, the team will discuss your child's strengths and concerns. Instructional strategies are developed to be implemented in the regular classroom to help maximize individual student success in the classroom.
Follow-up IST Meeting
After 6 to 8 weeks, the team meets to discuss your child’s progress. If the classroom teacher reports a positive change, the strategies are continued. If your child continues to struggle, the team may discuss other interventions including different strategies.
